School Life

HI ! How are you guys doing?

Today I will look back at this semester and talk about how it was.
It is mid-April now and semester is getting to the end, most of classes remaining only the final.
Looking back at how this semester was, I believe it was rather a relaxing compared to other ones I had before. I actually had more time by myself and could go over personal things a lot.
For academic standpoint, as I got farther into degree, I took more major classes than I had before. The study was harder than before, but as I could learn more advanced portion of my degree, felt more professional (?) of what I study.

Academically, I felt things a lot different from college and high school. At high school, I could not really specifically study things that I had interest in ( Airplanes ). But as I came up to college I could focus majorly on the study of aircrafts, which made it a lot more fun for me. The study is definitely harder but as we are into things that we want, it made my study much more interesting.

One thing that I regret about this semester is that I could not get involved a lot like I used to before. Focusing on my academics and myself more, I could not do things that gets me involved in school life more. So, for next semester, I am thinking of pouring more time one getting involved on school!!

Utah State University is also the place to be if you like music. Last week I talked about Logan City Limits, an event filled with art, music, and films. And now it is USU's turn to bring music to Logan. Every year the USU Student Association have a end of the year bash, where anyone can go to concerts on campus for $1/$5!! Super cheap right.

This year we have Mat Kearney, The National Parks, and Allred. Here is a poster from the event:

International Banquet and Fiesta Las America

Hello Everyone,

A week ago now we had two of our most awaited events on campus! The International Banquet hosted by the International Student Council (ISC), and Fiesta Las Americas by the Latino Student Union (LSU).

Friday night, I went to the international banquet where I had the pleasure to sit with some of my ambassador friends, and enjoy the show from the front row. The night was diverse and full of people from around the world. There were many performances each one of them honoring a different culture. Within the performances we had Indian, Palestinian, Dominican, and Asian dances through the night, and we had a drama about a Saudi wedding where they showed the many dances perform in different weddings. After we had delicious food including pitta bread with hummus, lemon herb chicken, with curry rice, salad, and for desert "tres leches".  The night ended with a memorial to our dearest friend Frank Marino De Leon Compres, and a beautiful dance put together by the ISC. The night did not end here, there was an after party were everyone dance until the light were all out.

Saturday night, I got ready for round two! It was Fiesta Las Americas. I had the pleasure to sit with my sisters from Theta Nu Xi Sorority Inc. The show was amazing, they brought the Mexican Folkloric Dancer who presented to us all the dances from around Mexico. Others performances were also seen through the night, For food we had amazing food as well as desert, and of course it did not end here! there was a Dance party after were we got to dance Latin music all night.  Trough the night we got a very important announcement that the club would be changing their name to LatinX instead of Latino in support to equality of gender in Latin culture.

Ambassador activities

Hello everyone,
How are you doing?

As scholarship for international ambassadors are up, I will talk about the experience I had.
Started last fall, it has almost been a year since I started this program.
At first, it was not easy because I am an international student that spent only a year in the states.
I really did not know what to do or how to do things. But people that I met as I started ambassador program really helped me a lot to get through it. Especially my IA ( international ambassador ) group led me through tons of things that were all new to me.
Almost every activities that I have done as an ambassador was fresh and new.
Among all those activities, I would say that Open- House, high school visit and A-Day were the most meaningful and new for me. The reason for it is because I got to personally share my experiences as an Aggie to those people who have interest in Utah State.
Thinking that sharing my personal experience and information about school would lead some other students to USU, it seems really meaningful.
Especially at A-Day (when high school students who applied to USU came up to campus for a day to experience life over here) I got to talk to kids who were interested in my major. I gave them the information, tips that I could give to them. I felt really good and even fun because I was giving them something new that would be helpful for them.
All these activities that I have throughout the first year was actually a lot of fun. I am looking forward to having more and more of these fun events.
